not much of a year for tattoos.thankfully the funeral car business has some work for me. Lincoln has a new heavy duty platform since they have retired the towncar. so that has kept me busy with alot of scale drawings, lots of meetings, and revisions. they want a prototype built in 2 months so now its rush rush rush, we need it overnite kinda thing. i must say. i was a bit skeptical about the MKT at first. thought it would look too much like a mini van, but its actually turning into one of the best looking funeral car of all time. the high belt line makes the roof line look lower and not so top heavy looking as with using a sedan car. should be a very impresive car.
also been painting bike parts. finished up the wicked salamander paint job with some striping and clear. i went ahead and turned the salamander back into a dragon theme with the striping. just so it wasnt tooo out there. lol. also painted some tins for a soft tail. guy lives in fla. and asked me for green paint and tree frogs. i was like cool don't get to do green bikes much. some kinda taboo color i here-- i say puppy cock. the x hit a dog with her Element not long ago so i had some light green left over from that. also had some dark Jaguaur green too . coarse the customer was picturing poison arrow frogs. you know the real bright colored tree frogs evryone likes, but you know me. can't do whats expected. lol went with a north american frog. figured i've only seen a real tree frog in the wild maybe two times cause they are so well camoed. besides i always wanted to do a paint job that used palm leaves. just happen too have a palm in the shop soooo. snip snip where are my magnets? lol i really like how it came out. perfect look for crusin in florida. the frogs blend in nicely but not so much you can't see them right away. used a chevy engine orange to stripe both paint jobs.
speaking of HONDA. the last post was about replacing the shop van with an element. went ahead and bought myself a black SC and have been working on turning it into the picture from the last post. didnt get any opinions from you guys on it. did'nt figure i would tho being a Honda an all. i have to say the 2010 finally got the look right. always hated the front end on previous models. it really is the perfect man van tho. almost have it finished. goes in tomorrow for the window tint. yes red. the graphics were done with red reflective stop sign material and brushed aluminum. lights up real nice at night. figured since the is'nt much real artwork on the vehical that a little special effects were in order. lol.
as for the tattoos. been really slow. had too cut Jamie loose. just not enough biz for the two of us, and he was ready to move on too. he split to Wis. to be closer to his dads family. he found a spot in a good shop up there and so far seems to be working out for him. i really miss that damn english kid. he was alot of fun in the shop. not really doing much big tattoos that are different right now. everyone wants the same thing as everyone else right now. lots and lots of lettering. not as boring as tribal tho. only one piece really stands out right now. doing a half sleeve on an engineer of the car he built while he was in college. its a Nissan, so most of you guys won't be too intrested in the car, but the design is REALLY cool. the top section is a view of the engine bay thru a fisheye lens kinda effect. ( he put a turbo in it, did a pretty good job routing the piping) the lower section of the tattoo is a 3/4 top view of the car in a hard core drift, smoke a rollin. the tattoo is a black and gray and red piece only. its easily the best car related tattoo i've done. just have the last session left, putting in the red, and i'll be able to take pics of it for you all.
well thats all for now
