Quilting Examples

 

 < The stars were continuous-outlined and free-form viney leaves put around them. The stars themselves tend to stand out from the vine-covered "wall." There are also occasional roses in the leaves. The leaf design was taken from the black print which has rose leaves on it.

 

The large meander on the flannel quilt makes it seem more cozy & touchable. It was made for a man.

 

 

 

 

 This is a 9-Patch alternating with solids. The chain I quilted with a squiggle line and the alternates have a freeform Rose in each. 

 

 

 

 

        

 

Since there were 17 plain "blocks" in the Delectable Mtns the Chantilly Lace block pattern was used. The borders have a straight line through the peaks and the mountains were left untouched to give some dimension. Stippling was used to fill in the rest.

 

 

 

China Dish was done with a circle in each plate and a flourish taken from some of the prints used in the top to simulate wrought iron.

 

 

 

   

 

Actual 1940's Sunbonnet Sue quilted with an Art Nouvea style scalloped border and each Sue has flowers quilted in her block that came from the print in her dress. The sashing has a short directional leaf design.

 

 

 

For a custom Lone Star quilt to be taken to a cabin there are pine sprays in the empty white sections. Done in variegated green thread.

Meandering on 8 Pointed Stars for a grandson.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The center was quilted in Chocolate Curls and the large yellow & blue striped border was done in wavy leaf design with a feather spine in the center.

 

 

Christmas Tree skirt for 2005: the stars are outlined "arc'd", the background "overlapping loops" for falling snow, and the center star was quilted as in Log cabin block.
